Without breath we have nothing”.
“I believe there is a voice in all of us, it becomes a question of merely of how we wish to use it”. Marc Deaton has works with all ages and all levels of singers, and has also had significant experience working with transitioning voice types: for example: going from Mezzo- Soprano to Soprano, Baritone to Tenor. He works with all levels of age and experience, from beginner to experienced professional and in all styles of music: classical, musical theatre, jazz, and popular styles. He also focuses on diction and interpretation of music.
As Artistic Director for Madison Lyric Stage, he has also worked with many singers in their emerging artists program providing not only guidance one on one on their technical and interpretive skills, but as a mentor as they approach a career in the theater, be it opera or musical theatre.
Marc Deaton has worked with numerous coaches, directors and conductors both in the United States and around the world. He therefore brings a vast knowledge of interpretation, diction and tradition in the world of opera, art song and musical theatre. “I want to give all of the knowledge I have gleaned from my life in the theatre to those, vibrant and talented artists, who are now making their way toward the glorious world of music and theatre”.
